Population and sampling strategy

 

The population consists of both public and private organisations in South Africa. The sample space was defined using the Standard Industrial Classification from Statistics South Africa  (Table 1).  Five (5) respondents (1 x HR Manager, 1 x Manager and 3 employees) from one organisation in each sector code will be interviewed using the qualitative questions. Five (5) SME owners should be interviewed as well in a focus group. The data from the interviews will be coded into themes. The themes will become the set of quantitative questions for the online survey.
